Welcome to Groundwork Kent & Medway

Groundwork Kent & Medway is a unique and vibrant charitable organisation.  Established in North Kent in 1990, it has gone from strength to strength, delivering over £20 million of environmental improvements.

Local communities are at the heart of our philosophy and by working in partnership we deliver successful and inspirational projects, from play areas to gardening clubs, skate parks to school activities.

Extending our area of work in April 2007 to the whole of Kent, and employing over 25 highly skilled, committed and enthusiastic staff, we believe we can offer a holistic and imaginative approach in addressing local needs.

Through our website you will find various case studies, the latest news and events and of course meet the teams who make these projects a success.

Hillyfields Play Park is Officially Openend

Friday 5th December saw the official opening of the new and vastly improved Hillyfields Play Park in Gillingham.

The improvements to the park have taken place after a series of community consultation workshops in which Groundwork Kent & Medway's Landscape Architects and Medway Council's Green Spaces Team met with the local community to ensure the final product met the needs and expectations of the local users of the park.

The park is an exciting example of landscape design that takes the 'natural' elements and works with them to create a final product that works in harmony with the site. The facilities provided go beyond traditional swings and slides and are aimed at giving children a more challenging play environment.

The opening was attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Medway, Cllr David Carr and Kirsten Carr, Paul Clark (MP) Junior Minister for Transport and Cllr Howard Doe, Medway Council's Community Services Portfolio holder. The Friends of Hillyfields and students from Saxon Way Primary School also joined a large turn out of local residents who all have had an input into the design of the improvements.

Paul Clark MP, Junior Minister for Transport; "I welcome today's opening of Hillyfields Play Park as it brings to conclusion the collaboration between Groundwork and the local community, Friends of Hillyfields, Councillors, Medway Council and the private sector."
